WHY DID WE GO TO LIVE IN A MOTORHOME?
Since launching our collection a few years ago, we have been confronted with great economic challenges. Prototypes’ costs, promotion costs, costs of participating in many trade-shows all around the world, are really out of reach for a small brand with no great liquidity.
For many years, we had been looking for possible alternatives and solutions to cut our budget that was soaring and becoming unsustainable-due also to our long stays abroad-where our product had more commercial chances.
Our turning point came during a business trip in Duesseldorf, Germany. It was the beginning of September and the talk of the town was a huge-the biggest in Europe- Motorhome trade-show. Curious to find out what the fuss was all about, we decided to go and visit it: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!!!
In one afternoon – while admiring these wonderful vehicles with cutting edge technologies and elegant designs- we had a life- changing experience: here was the solution to our economic problems!
On the spot, with no second thoughts, we decided to buy a small motorhome which arrived a couple of months later from Germany. We had never set foot on such vehicles before but we just went for it!!
Since we got on our first “Hymer” Motorhome, our profession has radically changed. We have finally had the freedom to go and oversee our productions around Italy and to go abroad for long periods of time, cutting all our expenses. But, most important, we have found the deep meaning of “time” and have experienced total freedom, true, exhilarating freedom. Our work has been deeply influenced by this and our creativity has found new inspiration.
Then, a year ago, a new turning point: we were in Paris, presenting our collection at Vendome Luxury, and met with Cinzia Malvini, well-known journalist and host of MODA a famous show on national tv-channel La7. Cinzia casually asked us where we were staying and -in a matter of seconds- we decided to let her in our secret: we were parked in gorgeous Bois De Boulogne gardens with our Motorhome!! To our great surprise Cinzia got so excited that she dedicated the cover of her show to our story. Here is the link to the beautiful tv report at 0,50 minutes :
Since Paris we have taken -in quick succession-the following actions: we have sold our first motorhome, bought a new, bigger one, rented our house in Rome and decided to go and live in our new motorhome : what a dramatic life change!
To go and live in a Motorhome , risking all our certainties is a strong and revolutionary message: the market is difficult and the economy is bad? so let’s go out there and get the market, let’s put ourselves on the line…!!!! we think that ,at this point in time, it’s not enough to have the most beautiful collection in the world, or a Made in Italy product . What is deeply needed is a story, a soul, and fashion has to regain a human, personal dimension alongside a strong product.
With our Motorhome we have been on a real tour – the “Handmade in Italy Rocks Tour”– to tell our story and to bring Italian craftsmanship around Europe.
PERCHE’ SIAMO ANDATI A VIVERE IN UN MOTORHOME?!
Da quando abbiamo deciso di fare una nostra linea di accessori ci siamo subito confrontati con degli ostacoli economici molto forti. I costi delle prototipie ,della promozione di una linea, della partecipazione a tante fiere in giro per il mondo, sono davvero proibitivi per un marchio che non ha alle spalle una forte liquidità economica.
Da parecchi anni stavamo cercando possibili alternative e soluzioni per contenere il budget che stava diventando insostenibile, anche per le nostre lunghe permanenze all’estero dove vedevamo che il nostro prodotto aveva più chance commerciali.
La svolta, è arrivata proprio durante un nostro soggiorno per lavoro a Duesseldorf in Germania. In quei giorni di inizio Settembre a Duesseldorf non si parlava d’altro che di questa enorme fiera dei Motorhome (la più grande d’Europa) che coinvolgeva tutta la città, ed incuriositi siamo andati a visitarla: COLPO DI FULMINE……!!!!!
Nel giro di un pomeriggio, ammirando dei mezzi con tecnologie avanzatissime dai design accattivanti, abbiamo scoperto un mondo che ci ha cambiato per sempre: avevamo trovato la soluzione alle nostre problematiche economiche e, seduta stante, con un discreto investimento, abbiamo comprato- senza pensarci due volte-un piccolo motorhome che è arrivato dalla Germania pochi mesi dopo. Non avevamo mai messo piede prima su mezzi del genere eppure ci siamo buttati senza esitazione!
Da quando siamo saliti sul nostro primo motorhome “Hymer” la nostra professione ha subito un radicale cambiamento: abbiamo avuto finalmente una libertà di movimento sia per seguire le produzioni che per andare per lunghi periodi all’estero, riducendo moltissimo tutte le spese.
Ma ancora più importante ,abbiamo riscoperto il tempo e abbiamo capito che cosa è la libertà totale, quella vera, eccitante e questo ha influenzato molto la nostra creatività che ha ritrovato nuova linfa.
Poi, una nuova svolta: eravamo a Parigi, a presentare la nostra collezione a Vendome Luxury e ci siamo incontrati con la giornalista Cinzia Malvini del famoso programma MODA de “la7”.
Cinzia, ci ha chiesto casualmente dove eravamo a dormire e-in un secondo- abbiamo preso la decisione di rivelarci: eravamo parcheggiati nel bellissimo parco Bois De Boulogne con il nostro Motorhome!!l Con nostra grande sorpresa abbiamo suscitato in lei un tale stupore ed interesse che ci ha fatto un bellissimo servizio e la copertina della sua trasmissione MODA con la nostra storia. il Qui sotto il link di quel servizio a 0,50 minuti:
Dopo Parigi, in successione rapidissima abbiamo: venduto il primo motorhome, deciso di affittare casa a Roma, comprato un motorhome molto grosso e deciso di andarci a vivere cambiando radicalmente la nostra vita!!!
Andare a vivere in un Motorhome, giocandoci tutte la nostre sicurezze, vuole essere un messaggio forte e rivoluzionario: il mercato è in crisi, difficile? e allora ce lo andiamo a prendere noi il mercato, mettendoci in gioco personalmente!!!! noi pensiamo che, in questo momento storico, non sia più sufficiente avere la più bella collezione del mondo, il prodotto Made in Italy, ma c’è bisogno di una storia, di un’anima, c’è bisogno che la moda riconquisti una dimensione umana, con la persona che ritorna centrale, accanto ad un progetto di eguale forza.
Con il Motorhome siamo stati in un vero e proprio tour- il Handmade in Italy Rocks Tour– per raccontarci e per portare in giro per l’ Europa l’artigianato italiano.
